Nursery

Welcome to our Nursery class.  Nursery is often a child’s very first experience of school life and marks the beginning of an exciting learning journey. It is a time for settling in, building confidence and discovering the joy of learning through play. We aim to nurture curiosity, inspire imagination and create a love of exploration from the very start.

Through carefully planned play-based experiences, children explore the world around them, develop early communication skills and begin to form meaningful friendships and relationships. We recognise that every child is unique, and we are committed to providing a warm, nurturing, stimulating environment where children feel safe, valued and happy.

Spring in Nursery

Nursery have enjoyed an incredible first half term filled with building new friendships, exploration and exciting growth opportunities.

Some of the highlights were a visit from London Fire Brigade, learning about Lunar New Year and getting to know each other and our brand-new indoor and outdoor learning spaces. Our topic for this half term was 'People Who Help Us' and our champion was Mary Seacole.

In Phonics, our focus has been syllables while reading the books 'Monkey and Me', 'Kitchen Disco', 'Car, Car, Truck, Jeep' and 'Nature Trail'. In Literacy, we have learnt the songs and rhymes 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star', 'Baa Baa Black Sheep', 'Miss Molly Had a Dolly', 'Wheels on the Bus' and 'Row Your Boat'.

In Maths, we have looked for patterns and made repeated patterns, used positional language, explored and sorted different shapes, counted beyond 10, completed a range of puzzles and sung the songs and rhymes 'Zoom, Zoom, Zoom', 'One Man Went to Mow', '5 Currant Buns', 'Two Little Dicky Birds' and 'Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer'.

We have also learned about the four zones of regulation (blue, green, red and yellow), how we can identify our feelings and what to do to regulate ourselves when our feelings become too big to manage.
