Welcome to St James CofE Primary School
We are a warm, friendly and inclusive primary school set in the heart of Muswell Hill, next to the beautiful Highgate Woods. We provide an outstanding education for all, which encourages and develops every child academically and socially so they can flourish confidently. Through respect, kindness, joy, wisdom and perseverance, we encourage each other to engage in our world and transform our future.
We look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful school.

What we are Proud of at St James
We are ranked in the top 3% of primary schools in England
We are delighted to have been ranked within the top 3% of primary schools in the country according to the Time Educational Supplement (December 2024). You can find out more information here
Rights Respecting Gold Award
We have been awarded the UNICEF Rights Respecting Gold award in recognition of the way we work across our curriculum to value the rights of every child.
The World Reimagined Project
We were so thrilled when we got to host our beautiful globe as part of the World Reimagined Project. Ours was by artist Bryony-Benge Abbott who was inspired by the legacy of Kenyan activist, Wangari Maathai, who founded the Green Belt Movement and was the first African women to win a Nobel Peace Prize.
PSQM Outreach Award
We achieved the PSQM Outreach award for the hard work we do in science both within the school and with other schools too.
World Book Day
We love reading at St James. Our brilliant World Book Day costumes gave us a chance to talk about a wide range of authors and books we love. It was fantastic when we did buddy reading across the school and we got to share our favourite books together. World Book Day is important - and books are special EVERY DAY at our school!
Our New Nursery
Our nursery is a constant place of creativity and engagement. We have been so pleased to see the way our new cohort are settling, learning and growing at St James.
Our Links to St James Church
We visit the Church across the year to develop our Christian values and all our families are invited too.
This is an important time for us to consider the importance of faith to Christians and connect to our community.
Conscious Inclusion
Conscious inclusion is a core part of our school development plan and is embeded in everything we do from our curriculum and enrichment programme to our behaviour and restorative justice approach. Please see our Inclusion pages for more information.
Achievement For All
Our school is part of Haringey's pledge to raise achievement for all.
'Every child and young person in Haringey matters. Every child and young person deserves the best life chances, especially when they face additional barriers due to ethnicity and disadvantage. It is everyone's responsibility to make this a reality and create the equality of opportunity we want to see.'
Show Racism The Red Card
We wore red to school this term to show our support for Show Racism The Red Card who are one of the UK's leading anti-racism educational charity. The majority of their work involves the delivery of educational workshops to young people and adults in schools, workplaces and at events held in football stadiums. Across the UK, they produce educational resources to challenge misconceptions, stereotypes and negative attitudes in society.
At St James, we pride ourselves in having a curriculum that reflects our school community and celebrates diversity. We want all our pupils to thrive through informed curiosity about the world and think critically about how to change the world for the better.
Platinum Green Tree Woodland Trust Award
We are delighted to have been awarded the prestigious Platinum Green Tree School Award by the Woodland Trust. This validates our hard work on considering sustainibility at St James. We love being next to the woods as it helps us to consider our connection with nature every day.
Super Scientists
We are so proud of our Science at St James.
The learning and investigation doesn't just happen at school! We are proud of the way science takes place at home as well.
Forest School
We are fortunate to be next door to beautiful Highgate Woods and our Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 classes take part in Forest School.
