Our Lettings, Charging And Remission Policies

At the start of each school year, the Governors ask parents to make a financial contribution towards the running and maintenance of St James Primary School. Some of the contribution is paid directly to the London Diocesan Board for the School Buildings Maintenance Scheme to cover building and grounds maintenance.  The remainder is used to provide additional resources for the children.  In the past we have been able to use the money to

  • support the broader development of our children with
    • Extra teaching support
    • Educational psychology support
  • install new IT systems
  • refurbishing classrooms
  • make significant improvements to the playground environment

As a ‘Voluntary Aided School’, we are reliant on your generosity to help provide funding for the school’s facilities and activities.   You may know that the finances of the school are getting more challenging to manage with inflation on expenses but projections of no rise in per-pupil income from the government for the next several years under the new funding arrangements.

As a one form entry school we do not benefit from some of the economies of scale of larger schools. As a result, we will increasingly have to top up government school funding with your contributions to be able to continue to provide the high quality education we strive for.  This year the funds will be spent specifically on extra teaching resources and staff as and where needed by the school.

We’re a small school and these contributions mean an awful lot to us and make a huge difference in what we can do. So we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all the contributions you’ve made in the past that have allowed us to enrich our children’s school life and thank you for your continued support. We will continue to put your money to good use for the benefit of all our children.  Finally, please remember if you’re a UK taxpayer you can Gift Aid your donation by filling out the form on the envelope when it comes home to you

At times, the school will charge parents for various things such as residential courses or music lessons. Our aim is not to exclude any child from being able to participate in these activities. If you need any further information, please contact the School Office.
